Fees, Cancellations & Refunds

Session fees

Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation, so we can get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit. Our standard session fee is $150 per 50-minute session, reflecting our commitment to quality, personalized care. Payment is collected at each session using the card you keep on file in our secure client portal.

Insurance

We do not accept insurance directly, but we are happy to provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend checking with your plan about your out-of-network mental health benefits; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Financial hardship

We believe everyone deserves access to compassionate care. If cost is a concern, please talk with us about payment options. We are genuinely invested in your wellbeing and happy to explore flexible arrangements that work for your situation.

Cancellations and missed appointments

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours' notice through the client portal or by email. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged the full session fee. Insurance does not reimburse missed sessions. We understand that true emergencies and sudden illness happen, and we will handle those with care.

Refunds

Because counseling is a service already provided, fees for completed sessions are not refundable. If you are charged in error, or for a session you cancelled within the notice period above, we will promptly refund the charge to your original payment method. Questions about a charge? Email hannahpate@thefigtreecounseling.com.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
