Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
The Fig Tree Counseling respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website collects and how we use it. It covers the website only. How we protect the information you share in counseling is described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive when you become a client and may request at any time.
Information we collect
-
Contact form. When you use the form on this site, we receive your first name, last name, email address, and message. We use this only to respond to you.
-
Scheduling and client portal. Booking, intake forms, payments, and telehealth are handled through Jane, our secure practice management platform. Information you enter there is protected under our Notice of Privacy Practices and Jane's own privacy policy.
-
Website data. Our website is hosted by Wix, which may automatically collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and the pages you visit. Wix may use cookies to keep the site working and to measure traffic.
-
Please keep clinical details out of the contact form
The contact form and ordinary email are not designed for sensitive health information. Please share only what we need to get in touch, such as your name, how to reach you, and a general reason for contacting us. We are glad to talk through details during your free consultation or through the secure client portal.
How we use information
We use the information you provide to respond to inquiries, schedule consultations and appointments, and operate and improve this website. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
When information is shared
We share information only with service providers that help us run this website and our practice (such as Wix and Jane), when required by law, or with your written permission.
Confidentiality
Contacting us through this website does not by itself create a counseling relationship. Once you become a client, your information is protected under federal and Texas law, with limited legal exceptions that are explained in our informed consent and Notice of Privacy Practices.
Cookies
You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults. We work with clients ages 13 and older, and counseling for anyone under 18 begins with a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website.
Your choices
You may ask what information you have submitted through this website, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hannahpate@thefigtreecounseling.com. Requests for counseling records are handled separately; see our Client Rights, Records & Complaints page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
